A special summer highlight is the 50th Nissan trampoline World Cup, which will take place from 4 to 7 July 2018 in Arosa. The “Nissen Cup” is the oldest international trampoline competition, and owes its name to the inventor of the trampoline, George Nissen (USA). As a sports professor and dive master, he constructed the first prototype of a trampoline in his garage in the 1930s, fixing a piece of cloth with elastic bands to a metal frame – the birth of the trampoline. The trampoline gymnastics (singles and synchronous) is today an elite sport and Olympic discipline – a discipline that includes freedom, flying and space. The multiple alti and turns in the height of 8 meters require a sophisticated technique, perfect body control and extremely aesthetic movements. The Nissen Cup is held every two years in Switzerland and fortunately for the fifth time in Arosa. For the World Cup as well as the also advertised junior competitions about 250 athletes and carers will be visiting Arosa for four days. We can look forward to many nations and thanks to the great presence of the world’s best trampoline gymnasts, we can look forward to a top-class and exciting competition.
